How to Make a Budget

All of your income sources, and
All of your expenditures.
It will then be easy to see whether you are spending more than you are getting in every month (a budget deficit) or if you are getting in more than you are spending (a budget surplus).

It's a good idea to create a monthly budget, as this is how often debt usually has to be paid. You should also take in to account one off expenditures, for example Christmas, and save a little each month in order to afford it.

If you're spending more than is coming in every month then it is important to prioritize what you pay for. You will want to make sure that you are at least keeping up to date with essential living costs, such as:

How to Budget Debt Payments
There are a number of debt solutions which you can find on this site, or contact us for more information or for general debt advice. In order to ascertain which will be best solution for your situation it will be necessary to know what your budget is.

Creditors understand that sometimes situations change, and you are no longer able to afford the loan. In many situations you will be able to negotiate a Debt Management Plan (or we can do so on your behalf) so that you are only paying what you can afford every month.

To work out how much you can afford, you will have to work out a budget. After taking in to account the essential living costs, and other priorities that have to be paid in full, you will know how much you have available to pay unsecured debt.
